Arizona cornerback Michael Jolivette, the conference leader in interceptions, was named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week after his efforts helped Arizona beat No. 16-ranked Southern California at the Coliseum in Los Angeles Saturday.

Jolivette, a 5-foot-9 redshirt freshman, intercepted two passes in the second half to thwart USC drives. He returned his second interception 34 yards to set up the Wildcats' final score. He had six tackles, all solo, and broke up another pass.

The Arizona defense limited USC to 10 net yards rushing, forced five turnovers and recorded five quarterback sacks.

Jolivette is the third Arizona player to earn league weekly defensive honors. End Joe Tafoya earned player of the week honors after the Cats opener-game victory at Utah and defensive end Idris Haroon won the award after his exploits in the UA's victory at Stanford Sept. 30.
