TUCSON, Ariz. (Sept. 10) -- The University of Arizona women's soccer team fell to Utah, 4-1, at home in front of a crowd of 412 on Sunday.
The Utes scored their first three goals in the initial 23 minutes of the match. Katie Tate put Utah on the board first at 5:37 when she collected a Maren Harper shot that had bounced off an Arizona defender. Amber Brower made the score 2-0 in the 19th minute, then Missy Dennis sent the Utes up, 3-0, with her completion of a penalty kick at 23:20.
Arizona senior forward KERI KENNEDY-WEBER (Coto de Caza, CA/Santa Margarita HS) broke the shutout at 75:10 with her first collegiate goal, off an assist by sophomore NAOMI CHU (Thousand Oaks, CA/Westlake HS).
Utah capped the victory at 86:18 when Amber Brower dribbled through the Arizona defense to score her second goal of the contest.
Arizona junior goalkeeper SHANNON MONTI (Phoenix, AZ/Shadow Mountain HS) played all 90 minutes in the nets for the Cats, garnering four saves. Utah goalkeepers Courtney Hills and Lynnsey Asay each played one half for the Utes, and each had one save.
The Wildcats drop to 0-4-0 on the year, and Utah moves to 2-3-1 overall. Arizona opens a four-game road swing next weekend, playing at New Mexico on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. MDT
