The University of Arizona womens volleyball team has been selected to host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division I Womens Volleyball Championship tournament.
The Wildcats, seeded No.2 in the Central Region, will face Alabama A&M on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 8 p.m. MST in McKale Center. Also selected to compete in Tucson are Michigan and Louisville. The Wolverines and Cardinals will face each other on Thursday at 6 p.m. MST. The winners of the two opening-round matches will meet on Friday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. MST in McKale Center.
Other teams seeded in the Central Region include No. 1 Nebraska, No. 3 Brigham Young and No. 4 Ohio State.
Six Pac-10 Conference teams were selected to compete in the NCAA tournament. Arizona finished the season with a record of 25-4, 16-2 in the Pac-10. The Wildcats shared the conference championship with Southern California, but earned the conference's automatic tournament berth by winning the conference tiebreaker.
Tickets for the event are $10 for general admission, $6 for students and senior citizens and $4 for youth, 12 and under. Tickets for both rounds must be sold as a package for the two sessions until the first day of competition. After that time, single-session tickets may be purchased at a cost of $7 for general admission, $5 for students and senior citizens and $3 for youth, 12 and under.
