Wildcats in Fifth Place After Round Two of Men's Golf Tournament

HONOLULU, Hawaii - Arizona shot a second round of 279 at the John Burns Intercollegiate men's golf tournament being held in Honolulu and currently stands in fifth place, nine strokes back of leader New Mexico.

New Mexico used the low round of the day to jump into first place. The Lobos combined to shoot 271 on Thursday and are five strokes ahead of second-place Auburn.

The Wildcats were paced by sophomore Ricky Barnes who shot a second-round of 70. The sophomore from Stockton, Calif., sits tied for eighth place with seven other golfers at five-under-par. Michael Letzig of New Mexico holds the individual lead after carding rounds of 66 and 64 and is at 14-under-par for the tournament.

Arizona junior Ben Clark and sophomore Reid Hatley are tied for 16th place at four-under-par. While freshman Chris Nallen and junior Cody Beyer are tied for 31st place at one-under-par for the tournament. Arizona's other freshman Andy Connell fired a second round of 80 and is tied for 78th place.

Action at the John Burns Intercollegiate wraps up tomorrow with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
