Huskies Top Cats in Softball

SEATTLE--Freshman pitcher Tia Bollinger led No. 14-ranked Washington to a 1-0 Pacific-10 Conference softball victory over the No. 2 Arizona Wildcats here this afternoon.

Bollinger shut the Cats out on four hits to outduel UA senior pitcher Becky Lemke and earn her 23rd victory against two defeats. Lemke gave up five hits and struck out eight in falling to 13-2.

Arizona dropped to 38-3 overall and 2-1 in Pac-10 play. The Huskies improved to 25-12 and 3-1.

UW scored its run when Amanda Oleson singled through the right side to score Kelly Hauxhurst in the third inning.

Arizona was shut out for the first time this season and lost to a ranked team for the first time.

The Wildcats travel to Los Angeles for games against No. 1 UCLA on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
