OKLAHOMA CITY - NCAA Softball College World Series - Sunday, May 27

OKLAHOMA CITY--Arizona managed only two hits off Stanford pitching but one of them by Toni Mascarenas disappeared deep over the left-field fence to give Arizona a 1-0 victory and put the Wildcats in the College World Series title game for the first time since 1998.

Mascarenas' 25th home run of the year, a solo liner well over the left-field seating pavilion, gave Arizona a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. It was her third world series homer, tying a record.

UA pitcher Becky Lemke (19-2) threw a one-hitter, striking out five and allowing only two other base runners, one on a walk and one reaching by an error. Stanford was eliminated from the WCWS and finished the year 53-16-1.

Stanford coach John Rittman pulled Cardinal starter Tory Nyberg the second time Mascarenas came to bat, relieving with Jaime Forman-Lau, who got the UA slugger to pop up to center. Forman-Lau pitched three and one-third perfect innings but the Cardinal could not get anything going offensively. Stanford retired the final 13 Arizona batters.

Arizona (64-4) will appear in the series' title game at 12:15 p.m. Monday in a national cablecast by ESPN. The Cats play either UCLA or Louisiana State, which would have to beat the Bruins twice Sunday to make it to the final.

It's the Wildcats' ninth title game. UA has won five national championships since 1991.

The Cats' other hit off Nyberg was a single to left field by Lindsey Collins in the second inning. Stanford finished the
