Arizona Wins Twice In USF Softball Tournament

TAMPA, Fla.--Senior Becky Lemke threw a no-hitter against Florida Atlantic to open Arizona's softball season in the University of South Florid tournament here Friday, leading the Cats to a 5-0 victory.

Junior Jennie Finch came back with a one-hit shutout victory over Tennessee, 8-0, in the Cats’ second game of the day.

Redshirt freshman Leneah Manuma hit home runs in each game, senior catcher Lindsey Collins had one in the first game, and senior third baseman Toni Mascarenas punctuated the final game with two home runs.

The Wildcats, ranked No. 3 in the USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association preseason poll, are scheduled to play Northwestern Saturday morning at 10 a.m. (EST) and against host USF at 4 p.m., although chilly weather and potential rain might affect play in the tournament, officials said.

The Cats are scheduled to conclude their action in the round-robin tournament aginst Hawaii at 10 a.m. Sunday.
