Three Men's Tennis Players Competed In ASU's Winter Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - Sophomore Caleb Marquardt and Senior's Jean-Noel LaCoste and Michel Stopa competed in a two- day round robin tournament at Arizona State's Winter Invitational Friday and Saturday.

Michel Stopa defeated Mattias Westerberg of Tulane, 7-5, 6-4, Friday. Later that day he fell to Pim Van Mele of ASU, 7-6, 6-3. Saturday Stopa ended the invitational with a win against ASU's Mitchell Bowen, 6-4, 6-4.

LaCoste earned two wins Friday against USD's Stephen Taylor, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, and ASU's Matt Jacobs, 6-1, 7-5, Friday. Saturday, LaCoste retired to ASU's Matt Klinger, 6-3, 2-0.

Marquardt lost to Esat Tanik of Tulane, 7-6, 3-6, 6-4, and retired to ASU's Andrew Golub, 4-0 Friday.

The Wildcats will resume play Friday Jan. 28, at UCLA, at 1:30 p.m.
