TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona's women's tennis team will begin the 2001 season ranked 24th in the Collegiate Tennis Rankings, which were released Tuesday.

The Wildcats concluded last season No. 24 after enjoying a 10-win season and a berth in the regional finals of the NCAA Tournament. UA spent 12 of last season's 16 weeks in the top 25, climbing as high as 16th in the March 22 poll.

Arizona will face six teams in the top 10, including non-conference matches against fourth-ranked Duke and No. 6 Texas. In all, 13 of the Wildcats' 14 opponents earned spots in the preseason poll.

UA will open up the spring season in Seattle at the Pac-10 Indoor Championships, Jan. 11-14.
