Men's Tennis to Host Season Opener

This Week: The University of Arizona men's tennis team will host its first two matches of the season on Friday, Jan. 20 at 1:30 p.m. against New Mexico State and at noon on Saturday, Jan. 21 versus Santa Clara.

The 46th-ranked Aggies come to Arizona for their first match of the season. New Mexico State is coming in with one ranked player. Mark Legris of Indre, France, is ranked 94th in singles on the WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings.

The unranked Bronco's are going to play their season opener Friday, Jan. 20 at Arizona State University.

Fall Play: Junior Bruno Aropovic won the championships of flight two at the USD All-College Invitational in October. Aropovic compiled a 5-3 record in fall play.

Junior transfer Steven Capriati compiled a fall record of 4-2. He made it to the championships of flight two at the USD All-College Invitational before falling to Oliver Mailberger of San Diego State, 6-3, 6-2.

The Cats only returning starter from the 1999-2000 squad, sophomore Tom Lloyd, had a fall record of 4-4. Lloyd made it to the semifinals at the Thunderbirds Invitational, where he fell to Marko Gojanovic of Clemson, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
