TUCSON, Ariz. - The 60th-ranked University of Arizona Men's tennis team earned their second win of the season, defeating Santa Clara 5-2, Sunday, at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.

In singles play the Cats won five out of six matches. Freshman Whi Kim flew by Federico Mattioli at the No. 4 spot, 6-0, 6-0, picking up the Wildcat's first point of the match. Senior Jari Niskala picked up a win at the No. 5 spot against Erich Chen, 6-3, 6-1.

Clinching the match for the Wildcats at the No. 4 position was freshman Carl Hagman, earning a victory over Michael Duong, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.

The Broncos swept the Cats in doubles play. The duo of junior Steven Capriati and Kim fell short to Mike Bruggemann and Ryan Livesay, 9-8(5), at the No. 1 spot. At the 3rd position freshman Roeland Brateanu and junior Brian Jackson were defeated by Duong and Rick Ruso.

The Wildcats will return to action in their first Pac-10 match of the season against UCLA Friday, January 26, at 1:30 p.m., at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
