Hilton Head, S.C. - The second ranked University of Arizona women's golf team won the last tournament of the Fall season at the 14th Rolex/Golf World/Palmetto Dunes Collegiate Invitational presented by Cleveland Golf with a team score of 11-over-par 875. The tournament was held at the Arthur Hills Golf Club at Palmetto Hall Plantation (par-72, 6,257 yards).
Senior Jenna Daniels won the individual medalist honors in a playoff, beating Duke's Beth Bauer, after Daniels birdied the first playoff hole for the win. Bauer held the lead for much of the round until Daniels holed-out for eagle from 110 yards on the 328-yard 12th hole with a pitching wedge, she followed that up with par-birdie-par-birdie. Both Daniels and Bauer completed regulation by carding 7-under-par 209. Senior Jill Gomric finished tied for sixth place (3-over-par 219), while sophomore Cristina Baena tied for 11th place (5-over-par 221). Freshman Julia Kraschinski placed 20th with a 10-over-par 226 and rounding out the Wildcat lineup was junior Christina Monteiro who tied for 40th place at 20-over-par 236.
The next outing for the Wildcats is Feb. 2, 2000, at the Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.
