Wildcats in first Place at TRW Regional Challenge - UA's Baena Tied For First in Individual Race

PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The first ranked University of Arizona women's golf team is in first place after day one of the TRW Regional Challenge with a team score of 4-over-par 288. The tournament is being held at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in the Palos Altos Estates, which is a par-71, 5,900 yard layout.

Sophomore Cristina Baena is tied for first place with Tulsa's Stacy Prammanasudh after each scored a 3-under-par 68. UA senior Jill Gomric shot an even 71 and is in fourth place , while junior Christina Monteiro is tied for fifth place, scoring a 1-over-par 72. Rounding out the Arizona line up are freshman Julia Kraschinski (6-over-par 77) tied for 40th place and junior Jenna Daniels (9-over-par 80) tied for 69th place.

Pepperdine, Southern California, Texas Christian and Georgia round out the top five schools in the team race.

Day two of the three-day tournament resumes tomorrow with another 18 holes of play.
