Wildcats Travel to Northern California

This Week: The University of Arizona Men's Tennis team (8-5 overall and 1-4 in Pac-10) will travel to Northern California to play Pac-10 powerhouse No. 3 Stanford (3/31) and No. 48 California (4/1).

Last Week at Home: The Wildcats had last week off after sweeping American (3/17), 7-0. American had to forfeit at the No. 6 spot in singles play and the No. 3 spot in doubles. This match marked sophomore Caleb Marquardt's fifth consecutive win in singles play.

Aybar highlights fall season: The Wildcats competed in five main draw tournaments this fall. Red-shirt junior Alex Aybar, who finished the fall campaign 9-3, made it to the quarterfinals at the Rolex Regionals in Malibu, Calif. (11/4-7). Finishing the season 8-4, sophomore Caleb Marquardt made it to the flight one championships at the University of San Diego Tournament (10/15-17). Doubles partners Aybar and senior Jean-Noel LaCoste defeated both the No. 2 and No. 12 nationally-ranked doubles teams at Jerry's Desert Invitational in Palm Springs (1/7-9).

Cats in the Polls: In the March 22 WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings the Wildcats are ranked dropped to No. 44 in the rankings.

Head Coach: Bill Wright is entering his 14th year as the men's tennis coach at the University of Arizona. In his years at Arizona he has collected an overall record of 119-180. He is a 1960 graduate of Southern Methodist University and also has a law degree from Denver University.

Next Match: Next week the Cats will again be on the road. They are going to be matching up against No. 71 Oregon Friday April 7, at 1:30. They will then face No. 31 Washington Saturday April 8, at noon.
