On Oregon road trip:
"Any time you go on the road in this league it becomes a very critical time. Particularly since we can't let Stanford get any more distance between us. The SC (Southern California) game will be interesting but I think when they play at Maples Pavilion it is very difficult to stay out of foul trouble. SC cannot afford to get anybody in foul trouble.

"With our team right now, defensively we continue to make progress. We have become disruptive to the offensive sets our opponents run. Offensively we have been shooting the ball well in conference other than the Arizona State game. I think that is a result of player and ball movement and better shot selection.

On sophomore guard Gilbert Arenas:
"With respect to why Gilbert is shooting so well all of a sudden, he is getting much better looks at the basket and his confidence is rising the more shots he makes.

On Oregon:
"It is a very difficult place to play. They have a great crowd and they really get into it. At home, they are very much a momentum type team. It will be important for us to come out early and try to get the crowd out of it. They are a very aggressive team who take the ball hard to the basket. Freddie Jones and Brian Bracey are great players who have become go-to guys for them.

On junior forward Richard Jefferson:
"Richard has taken a lot of pride in being a defensive stopper for us. He's doing a good job of denying the basketball and has the strength to make it difficult on anybody he guards. His assignment on Thursday will be Freddie Jones so he has a challenge on his hands but I think he is up to the task.

"I think the aggression he has on the defensive end translates over to rebounding and his numbers have been getting progressively better. I thought he did a great job for us on the defensive glass against Texas. To be a great rebounder you have to have the mentality that every shot is a miss and that every rebound is yours.

"The thing that I think is beginning to develop is the desire to bury people once we get a lead. I thought in the UCLA and Texas games there was never a let up."

On team's progress:
"We are making progress but we aren't satisfied. I think right now that's the attitude we have to have."
