The Arizona volleyball team will begin its run at a Pac-10 Conference championship as they head to Arizona State for a Wednesday match with the Sun Devils. First serve is 7 pm.

A Look at the Cats: Coming off a dominating performance and a championship at the Wildcat Classic, the 13th-ranked Wildcats begin their run at a Pac-10 Conference championship with a road match with intrastate rival Arizona State in Tempe on Wednesday, the Cats then travel to the Beehive State to take on red hot, 10th-ranked Brigham Young and No. 18 Utah on Friday and Saturday. Arizona swept 19th-ranked Baylor, previously undefeated Santa Clara and New Mexico State in Tucson last weekend to extend its winning streak to five games and improve its record to 5-1 for the season.

A Look at the Sun Devils, Cougars and Utes: After a 1-2 start, Arizona State has reeled off four straight victories to improve its season mark to 5-2. The Devils return to Tempe from San Marcos, Texas, with the B&G Properties Invitational championship, defeating St. Louis 3-1, Sacramento State 3-0, IUPUI 3-0 and Southwest Texas 3-2. ASU returns four starters and seven letter winners from a 1999 team that finished fifth in the conference with a 10-8 record, 14-13 overall. The Cats and Devils split their two meetings last season, with each team winning on the road. The two have met 57 times, with ASU holding a 31-26 edge ... 10th-ranked Brigham Young, 6-1, has won five in a row, inculding a 3-1 victory over then No. 1 Stanford and a 3-2 win against then No. 2 Long Beach State. The Cougars return three starters from its 1999 28-5 NCAA regional semifinal team. BYU won the Mountain West last year with 13-1 conference mark. The Wildcats and Cougars have met 23 times with BYU holding a 14-9 edge. The schools met last season with BYU stealing a 3-2 victory in Tucson ... No. 18 Utah, 7-0 and ranked for the first time in school history, got the upsets rolling last week by knocking off previously unbeaten and newly anointed No. 1 Stanford 3-2 in Salt Lake. Utah then rolled through its weekend matches downing Nevada 3-2, 24th-ranked San Diego 3-2 and Cal Poly-SLO 3-1. UU's roster mirrors that of the Wildcats. The Utes return five of six starters and 12 letterwinners from its 1999 squad. The Utes were third in the Mountain West and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament a season ago. Arizona holds a 10-3 advantage in 13 meetings with the last meeting coming in 1985.

Pac-10 Player of the Week: Junior setter Dana Burkholder was named Pac-10 Player of the Week by the conference for her performance at the Wildcat Classic Sept. 8-9. The Classic MVP had an impressive tournament, posting 126 assists, 22 digs and seven block assists in the Wildcats' three match sweep of New Mexico State, No. 19 Baylor and Santa Clara. She chipped in with 22 kills, including a career-high 13 against Santa Clara, and hit an impressive .606 for the weekend. It is Burkholder's second Player of the Week honor in her Arizona career having garnered the award last season for her efforts against the Washington schools in November.

Hunting Season: The Arizona volleyball team went on a hunting expedition last weekend at the Wildcat Classic. The Cats posted 183 kills on 340 swings, while committing only 36 errors for an impressive .432 hitting percentage in their three matches. Collectively hitting .382 as a team this season, the Wildcats are literally killing their opponents at the net.

Sharp Shooters: Arizona's team hitting percentage of .483 in the three-game sweep at San Diego State Sept. 2 set a school record for accuracy. The Cats had 52 kills on 89 attempts while committing only nine errors. The previous mark was held by the 1994 squad who hit .461 against California.

Classic Awards: Arizona's three match sweep through the Wildcat Classic last weekend earned four Wildcat players all-tournament honors. Joining Dana Burkholder, who earned top honors as Classic MVP, were all-tournament selections Lisa Rutledge, Jill Talbot and Marisa DaLee. Rutledge knocked home 26 kills for the weekend on 54 attempts while committing just six errors (a .444 hitting percentage). Talbot averaged 2.33 kills and 2.46 digs per game for Arizona, while DaLee rapped out 29 kills on 49 swings and only four errors for a .510 hitting percentage.

Thrice as nice: Junior setter Dana Burkholder collected her second career triple-double Sept. 2, against San Diego. Her 10 kill, 54 assist, 10 dig performance was the 19th triple-double in Arizona history, and just the fifth by a Wildcat setter. Burkholder tallied her first triple-double a season ago in Arizona's five game loss to UCLA on Oct. 11 when she had a career-high 11 digs, 70 assists and 14 digs against the Bruins.

Keep it to a Minimum: San Diego State's 14 points in three games was the fourth lowest point total for an Arizona opponent in a three game match in school history. Cal State Fullerton mustered only 10 points in a 1983 meeting with the Cats.
