TUCSON-Jennie Finch remained undefeated (18-0) and checked Oregon State on four hits in a shutout to give Arizona (38-3) a Pac-10 softball victory over the Beavers (26-8-1). UA improved to 2-0 in league play while OSU fell to 0-2.

Arizona built a 3-0 early lead on a two-run single by Finch in the first inning and an RBI single up the middle by Katie Swan in the second..

The Cats blew the game open by sending 14 batters to the plate and scoring eight more runs in the third, keyed by two RBIs by Finch in two different at bats, plus run-scoring plays by Chrissy Gil, Swan, Lauren Bauer, Lindsey Collins and Allison Andrade.

The game was shortened to five innings by the eight-run mercy rule. UA chased starter Tarah Beyster (16-6) in the big inning.

Arizona and Oregon State conclude the first weekend of Pac-10 action with a second game at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hillenbrand Stadium.
