Aybar on Men's Singles Top 100

TUCSON, Ariz.- The 1999-2000 University of Arizona men's tennis team wrapped up the fall season ranked 55th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Junior Alex Aybar was ranked 86th among the top 100 men's singles players in the country.

The Cats finished the 1998-99 season ranked 60th. There are nine returnees and three new faces to help them in singles and doubles play.

Nationally ranked Aybar is in his first active year at Arizona after redshirting last season due to a foot injury. While attending Tyler Junior College in 1997 and 1998 he was No. 1 in the nation in both singles and doubles.

The Cats will begin winter play at Jerry's Desert Invitational on Jan. 7-9, in Palm Springs, Calif.
