Women's Golf Team in Third Place at Hawaii Tournament

WALMANALO, Hawaii - The top-ranked Arizona women's golf team played its way into third place, shooting a 14-over-par 302 in day one of the Dr. Thompson Rainbow Wahine Invitational. The tournament is being held at the Olomana Golf Course, which is a par-72, 5,887 yard layout. Pepperdine leads the team race posting a 6-over-par 294, followed closely by Southern California (7-over-par 295). Rounding out the top five teams are Oklahoma State (18-over-par 306) and Oklahoma (28-over-par 316).

Senior Christina Monteiro leads the Wildcats after day one of the tournament and is tied for fifth place, carding a 2-over-par 74. Tied for eighth place are junior Jenna Daniels and sophomore Cristina Baena, who both shot a 3-over-par 75. Rounding out the top five Arizona golfers are senior Jill Gomric and freshman Julia Kraschinski, who are in 15th place with a 6-over-par 78.

Leading the individual race is USC's Mikaela Parmlid (2-under-par 70), followed by two Pepperdine golfers - - Lindsey Wright and Tamie Durdin who are tied for second place (1-under-par 71). Oklahoma State's Christi Cano is in fourth place (1-over-par 73) and USC's Yon Yim, Pepperdine's Lisa Chang and Monteiro round out the top five golfers tied for fifth place (2-over-74).
