TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona logged its sixth victory of the season Friday defeating Texas Tech, 9-0, at Robson Tennis Center. The Wildcats did not drop a set in any of their singles matches and swept all three doubles contests.
Highlighting singles play for Arizona were sophomores Lindsay Blau and Laresa Marino and junior Joanna Buczkowska who did not drop a single game in their matches. Blau logged a victory over Ayako Suzuki, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 2 position. In the No. 3 spot, Marino defeated Sonnia Orellana, 6-0, 6-0, and in the No. 5 singles slot, Buczkowska notched a win over Noel Ruiz, 6-0. 6-0.
In doubles action, two Arizona duos gained wins in their first match of the year together. Blau and Marino outlasted Amanda Earhart and Ayako Suzuki, 8-4, and senior Vanessa Abel and sophomore Brooke Taylor defeated Michelle Colaninni and Ruiz, 8-2. Arizona returns to action next Sunday when they travel up to the Pacific Northwest to take on Oregon at 1 p.m. MST.
