Arizona vs. Washington State
Jan. 11, 2001
Arizona Head Coach Joan Bonvicini:"I think we played excellent team basketball. We are a team who doesn't care who gets the credit as a long as we get the win. I think we did a great job on the glass and running the offense in transition."
On Reshea Bristol:
"She has been very consistent and unselfish. She's been consistent whether it be giving the big assist or hitting the clutch shot. She makes so many things happen, she is at the top of her game."
On Saturday's game against Washington:
"They have excellent shooters, they spread the floor with three great shooters and a great point guard. It's going to be a battle out here on Saturday afternoon."
"We did pretty well. We've had good practices. We knew they (WSU) had confidence after that great sweep in Los Angeles, they're a very scrappy team. I told our team we worked hard to get where we are. Now you do what got you there."
"The thing I like is we were unselfish. Washington State did one big thing. They swept the L.A. schools. We haven't done that yet."
"We just feel we have different players who can put up big numbers. We were fortunate, they really couldn't get their inside game going."
Washington State Head Coach Jenny Przekwas:"I think the way they shot in the first half caused us some problems. One area I was pleased with was how we handled the press. I really thought they were very hot. I was really disappointed that we weren't covering out better on their shooters."
"We came in saying they would be the best team we've played so far."
Arizona junior forward LaKeisha TaylorOn tonight's performance:
"Every game I go out trying to do what I can for the team. That means making good looks and getting my teammates with the hot hand the ball. Coach Bonvicini just wants to get the best look and shot on every offensive possession. Tonight was a night where I was able to get great looks and capitalize on them."
On the team's defense:
"Our intensity on defense is really good. We pride ourselves on scrambling and diving for loose balls it is paying off. Our defense creates a lot of our offensive opportunities. The Pac-10 conference is a very physical league and we expect it to be rough in the low post from here on out."
"This team gets better and better as each game passes and that is very encouraging."
Arizona senior guard Reshea Bristol"I thought we played very well tonight. Washington State gave us a run for our money but we stuck to our game plan and executed on both ends of the floor. We wanted to come out and show that we wouldn't overlook any team after great wins at California and Stanford."
On margin of victory:
"I was not surprised. When we play together we can beat anybody. This team is so athletic and versatile that it is very hard to defend us."
On Washington game on Saturday:
"They are a very good team. We are going to have to contest their perimeter shooters. Washington is similar to us in how balanced of a team they are."
