The University of Arizona men's golf team currently stands in third place at five-over par with 25 holes completed. The sixth-ranked Wildcats shot a first-round 292 and are +1 through seven holes of the second round for a cumulative +5 total. Georgia leads the 16-team field with a +1 total, while Texas is in second at +4.
Individually, Arizona is led by sophomore Reid Hatley, who currently stands in second place. The Spokane, Wash., native, shot a two-under-par 70 in the opening round and is currently -2 through seven holes of the second round. He is one of just seven players currently under par in the tournament. Hatley trails Kevin Haefner of Auburn by one stroke.
Two other Arizona golfers rank in the top 20, as sophomore Ricky Barnes is tied for 13th place at one-over par. He opened play with an even-par 70 and is +1 on his second round of the day. Junior Cody Beyer is tied for 19th place at +2. He shot a 73 in the morning round.
Other Arizona performers included freshman Chris Nallen, who is tied for 47th at +6, and junior Tim Weiss, who is tied for 70th at +10.
The inclement weather has shortened the tournament to a 36-hole event. The tournament is being contested at the Duke University Golf Club, a par 72, 7,054-yard layout. Play resumes Tuesday at 11 a.m. EDT. This event features 14 of the top-20 ranked teams in the current MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings.
