Wildcats Fall at Pac-10 Championships

OJAI, Calif.(April 22) - Junior Michel Stopa was the lone Wildcat to advance past the first round of the invitational or main draws Thursday at the Pac-10 Championships. In the main draw, Stopa defeated UCLA's Jean-Noel Grinda, 7-6(5), 4-6, 7-6(2) before being eliminated from the tournament by Stanford's Alex Kim, 6-3, 6-2.

In other main draw action, senior Adnan Novo fell to ASU's Alex Osterrieth, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0. Stanford's K.J. Hippensteel defeated Wildcat junior Jean-Noel LaCoste, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Arizona senior Pascal Salasca was defeated by Cal's Adrian Barnes, 6-4, 7-6(4).

In invitational draw action, freshman Caleb Marquardt retired in the sixth game of the second set in his match with Cal's Hiro Nakamura producing a final match score of 7-6(5), 3-2 (retired). Jeremy Berman of Washington outlasted Arizona junior Alex Brown, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
