BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Playing against a field that included seven of the top 14 finishers from last season's NCAA Championships, the Arizona men's golf team stands in 11th place after two rounds of play Monday at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate.

The Wildcats posted a total of 583 (+15) on the day to stand in 11th place after 36 holes. Georgia Tech leads the 12-team field by two strokes with a 553 total (-15). Georgia (555), Clemson (557), UAB (566) and Oklahoma State (566) round out the top five.

Junior Cody Beyer led Arizona with a two-round total of 144 (+2) and is in a six-way tie for 25th place. Teammate Chris Nallen posted a 145 (+3) and is tied for 31st place. Nallen, who opened the day with an even-par round of 71, was the only UA golfer to shoot par during Monday's 36 holes. Georgia Tech's Bryce Molder leads the field by five shots with a 13-under-par total of 129.

Other Arizona performers included sophomores Reid Hatley and Ricky Barnes, who are both tied for 41st at 149 (+7) and junior Brandon Smith, who is tied for 48th at 151 (+9).

The Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate is being contested at Old Overton Golf Club, a par 71, 6,958-yard layout. The two-day event concludes Tuesday with 18 holes scheduled to start at 8 a.m. CDT.
