Men's Tennis Earns Third Win of Season Against NAU

TUCSON, Ariz. (Feb. 4, 2001) -- The 49th-ranked University of Arizona men's tennis team defeated Northern Arizona University, 5-2, Sunday, February 4, at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.

The Wildcats (3-1 overall, 0-1 Pacific-10) won at the No. 1-5 spots in singles play to win the dual match. Freshman Carl Hagman earned a win at the No. 3 spot against Ivan Volkov, 6-0, 6-3.

On a four match winning streak, freshman Whi Kim defeated Erik Kaarlson at the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-4. Clinching the match for the Wildcat's at the No. 2 spot was sophomore Tom Lloyd. Lloyd beat Daniel Lindstrom, 6-0, 4-6, 6-4.

In doubles play at the No. 2 spot, Rudy Cisneros and Ivan Vokov beat Lloyd and Hagman, 8-2. At the 3rd position the duo of Lindstrom and Karlson defeated junior Brian Jackson and senior Jari Niskala, 8-4.

The Wildcats will play host to Utah Monday, 1:30 p.m., at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
