TUCSON, Ariz. The Arizona volleyball team swept its 2000 season series with Stanford Thursday night, walking away with a 16-14, 16-14, 15-5 victory at Maples Pavilion in Palo Alto, Calif. The Wildcats rallied from behind to take the first two games before putting the 17th-ranked Cardinal away in the third. The victory was just the third over Stanford in school history, but the second this season, having defeated the Cardinal 3-0 in Tucson in September. Arizona improves to 18-2 on the season and 11-1 in the Pac-10 to keep even with USC, 3-0 winners over Oregon State Thursday night, in the conference title chase.

Arizona out-hit the Cardinal .338 to .239 and out-dug them 55-43 en route to its fourth consecutive conference victory. The Wildcats amassed 75 kills on 154 attempts, committing 23 errors.

Four Arizona players figured in double-digit kills for the match. The tandem of Marisa DaLee and Jill Talbot were too much for Stanford as the pair racked up a total of 26 kills, each hitting over .500 for the match. DaLee tallied 15 of the duo's 26 kills on 24 attempts and only a single error for a .583 kill percentage, marking the ninth time this season she has hit .500 or better in a match. Talbot wasn't far behind, nailing 11 kills on 18 attempts, again, with only a single error for a .556 hitting percentage. Allison Napier led the Wildcats with 18 kills for the match, while Lisa Rutledge put away 14 on 28 attempts. Rutledge also chipped in with a match-high four block solos.

Dana Burkholder narrowly missed out on her third triple-double of the season, dishing out 57 assists while recording 11 digs and nine kills. Defensive specialists Rachel Williams and Elvina Clark helped the Wildcat cause with 12 and nine digs, respectively. Williams also served up two aces.

The Wildcats will look for Arizona's first Northern California series sweep when the travel across the San Francisco Bay to meet up with California at 7 p.m. on Friday.
