Arizona head coach John Mackovic and staff put the Wildcat football team through the paces Saturday, March 31, as the players dressed in full pads for the squad's fifth spring practice session, which was held at Arizona Stadium.

Here's what Head Coach John Mackovic had to say...

On the players' first practice in full pads:
"I was real pleased with the way the guys worked. Now, we had a number of errors. There were some small things, and we had some holding and procedure penalties, but we cleaned that up."

"Overall, I would say it was fine. I wouldn't call it any better than that. We have a long ways to go. We'll see how our guys do at the next practice. If they come back ready to go to work and learn and are sharp and ready to pay attention, then we'll know that they are ready to do this."

On the offense and defense:
"Although the defense has to learn a lot, they can react and fly around and make some plays, and I would like for the offense to be right there with them as much as we can. I would like for our offense not to feel that they have to take a long time to get ready."
