Men’s Tennis to Host Stanford and California

This Week: The 58th-ranked University of Arizona men’s tennis team (9-5 overall, 0-4 Pac-10) will play host to Pac-10 rival Stanford on Friday, March 30, at 1:30 p.m. The Cats will then match-up against California on Saturday, March 31, at 12:00.

The seventh-ranked Cardinal comes into the match with four ranked singles players and three ranked doubles teams. Alex Kim is ranked No. 3, K.J. Hippensteel is ranked 19th, ranked 23rd is David Martin and ranked 78th is Ryan Haviland. The duo of Scott Lipsky and David Martin are ranked 5th, Ali Ansari and Scotty Scott are ranked 15th and ranked No. 49 is the team of Haviland and Carter Morris.

The No. 30 Bears come into the match with three ranked singles players and one ranked doubles team. Ranked No. 25 is John Paul Fruttero, Adrian Barnes is ranked 66th and Balazs Veress is ranked No. 85. The team of Barnes and Scott Kintz is ranked 48th.

Cats in the Polls: The Wildcats are ranked No. 58 in the WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis rankings administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Last Match: In the Cats last outing, they fell to No. 21 USC (3/9), 2-5, and to top-ranked UCLA (3/10), 0-7. In the USC match Arizona’s two points came at the No. 2 and No. 4 spots. Sophomore Tom Lloyd defeated Damian Spizzo, 6-4, 6-4 at the second spot. At the fourth position, Whi Kim earned a win against Rueben Torres, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Next Match: The Wildcats will play host to Washington on Friday, April 6, at 1:30 p.m at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
