Women's Tennis Player Falls in Quarterfinals

SEATTLE, Wash. - Arizona freshman Debbie Larocque was defeated in the quarterfinals of the flight two singles bracket Friday at the Pac-10 Indoor Championships. Larocque fell to to Oregon's Janice Nyland, 7-5, 6-3, snapping a five match winning streak.

In her opening round match, Larocque outlasted Stanford's Lauren Barnikow, 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-1.

In other singles action, junior Lindsay Blau and senior Michelle dropped their opening round flight one singles matches. Blau was defeated by 20th-ranked Laura Granville of Stanford, 6-0, 6-0. Gough fell to Arizona State's Adria Engel, 6-2, 6-1.

In the flight three bracket, freshman Perrine Pernin recorded an first round victory over California's Catherine Lynch, 6-3, 7-5.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Jan. 13, for the second day of competition at the Pac-10 Indoor Championships.
