Tucson, Ariz. (Nov. 5) -- Playing its sixth ranked opponent in the last seven matches, the University of Arizona women's soccer team ended its season with an 8-0 loss to No. 5 UCLA at home on Sunday. The loss is the worst in the seven-year history of Arizona soccer.
The Bruins received a hat trick plus an assist from Sarah-Gayle Swanson, while Staci Duncan and Stephanie Rigamat collected two goals and an assist each. Lindsay Greco also contributed one goal and one assist.
UCLA outshot Arizona, 31-1, for the match, including a 20-1 edge in shots on-goal. Arizona junior Kristi Loroña had the Cats' only shot in the contest. Arizona goalkeepers Shannon Monti and Inger Airheart shared time in the nets, each tallying six saves for a team total of 12 for the contest.
Ending the 2000 season on a nine-game losing streak, Arizona earned 3-15-2 overall and 0-8-1 Pac-10 records. UCLA finished its regular season at 15-3-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the Pac-10.
