Arizona coach Lute Olson:
"I was a game of two teams playing tough defense. It seemed like neither team would put the ball in the hoop for a while. Mississippi's defensive pressure was tremendous, but once we got screens set for our wings, we got things going."
"Richard (Jefferson) had a double-double, so I'm happy that he got 15 points but even happier that he had 11 rebounds. We had a 45-32 edge on the boards and they make it difficult in the paint for our other guys. Because of that, Richard was a big difference."
"We're obviously happy to win. We've known that we had talent all along. It has finally come together. As far as our next opponent, we're just happy to be playing again."
Guard Jason Gardner
"Their wing defenders were great, so we had to make serious adjustments on our wings. Our wings are great penetrators, so missing that many three's was not that big of a deal."
"We were rushing our shot selection in the first half. At times we were just looking for the big pass or big shot."
Center Loren Woods
"Well, we knew we were down, but you couldn't think about it. Instead, we fixed our shooting slump coming out of the locker room. We were the more focused team in the second half."
"We wanted to contain (Missisippi forward Rahim Lockhartby double-teaming him. He's so accurate that we had to get a lot of guys around him."
