Lackey Tries Out For Team USA

TUCSON, Ariz. (May 10) - University of Arizona women's basketball player Angela Lackey has been invited to attend the 1999 USA Basketball Women's World University Games Team Trials May 19-24 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

A 6-0 junior forward, Lackey is among 44 of the nation's top women's basketball players who will be vying for spots on the U.S. squad which will compete in this year's World University Games. The Games will be held July 1-13 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, with the basketball competition scheduled to be played from July 5-11.

Besides Lackey, five other Pac-10 women -- LaCresha Flannigan (UCLA), Janae Hubbard (UCLA), Carolyn Moos (Stanford), Jenny Mowe (Oregon) and Shaquala Williams (Oregon) -- will be attending the trials as well.

The 12 members of the U.S. squad, which is the defending World University Games gold medalist, will be announced on May 24.
