Abdirahman Finishes 3rd at U.S. Cross Country Nationals

Former University of Arizona distance star Abdi Abdirahman finished third in the men's 12,000-meter race at the United States Winter Cross Country Championships Sunday in Vancouver, Wash., while running for the Nike team.

Abdirahman, who was a seven-time All-American during his career at Arizona from 1997-99, completed the course in 35 minutes, 26 seconds. His Nike teammate Meb Keflezighi won the race in 34:11, while Alan Culpepper finished second in 34:54.

Abdirahman, who finished 10th in the 10,000m at the 2000 Summer Olympics, earned a sopt on the U.S. team that will compete at the IAAF World Championships, March 24-25, in Dublin, Ireland.
