Former Arizona tennis player Vicky Maes is returning to UA as a volunteer assistant coach.

A native of Belgium, Maes made an instant impact as a player. The former tennis standout and four-year captain is the only player in the program's history to earn All-American status all four years at Arizona. In addition, she was a two-time GTE Academic All-American and Pac-10 Player of the Year in '95 and '96. Maes received the Ruby Award her senior year, an honor given to the most outstanding student-athlete at Arizona. Maes' honors and career achievements were capped off by being named to the Pac-10 All-Decade Team.

"While at Arizona, Vicky became the No. 1 ranked collegiate tennis player," said Arizona head coach Brad Dancer. "This experience, coupled with her unparalled work ethic are great models for our present student-athletes to follow."
