Football Game Delayed by Lightning

UA's contest against Wisconsin was delayed more than 90 minutes in the second quarter when a thunderstorm pushed by Hurricane Javier swept across Tucson, bringing severe lightning to the area.

The game, scoreless wiith 6:13 left in the first half, was to resume around 3:45 p.m.  Officials and coaches Mike Stoops and Barry Alvarez agreed to resume play and forego any halftime break.

Another storm cell was expected in the area sometime after 4 p.m.
