Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Day at the UA
Tucson, AZ. The University of Arizona Athletics Department is proud to present Hispanic Heritage Day at The University of Arizona. Honorary Captain, Joel Valdez, Senior Vice President for Business Affairs invites you to come celebrate on September 12, 2009 during the Arizona vs. NAU football game.
Various activities will take place during Hispanic Heritage Day at the UA.
Mariachi Arizona de University of Arizona, Mariachi Aztlan de Pueblo High School, Mariachi Monarca de Salpointe High School, Mariachi de Nogales High School, and Mariachi Rayos del Sol de Tucson High School and others, will perform with the Pride of Arizona during half-time.
Ballet Folklorico Tapatio, Grupo Folklorico Los Diabiltos Azules de Sunnyside High School and a couple of other local Folklorico groups will also perform at half-time
Art Contest: KVOA has teamed up with The University of Arizona, to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Day. Students are asked to illustrate what the Hispanic/Latino culture means to them by participating in our Hispanic Heritage Day Art Contest. There are four categories for grades: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. You must enter original artwork, and any medium may be used except photos. All entries must be 11" X 14". The contest themes are: What does being Hispanic mean to you or How do you celebrate the Hispanic culture? Four winners will be recognized during half-time of the UA football game.
Art Contest: Deadline is August 31, 2009 at 5pm. Submissions are to be turned in or mailed to 1010 E 10th Street, Tucson, AZ 85719
