TUCSON, Ariz.- Arizona senior women’s basketball player Anna Chappell has been selected as the Pacific-10 representative to the Division I national Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Chappell is the first female representative from the Pac-10 and the first Arizona athlete ever selected.
The Division I national SAAC consists of one student-athlete from each of the 31 Division I conferences. The committee reports directly to the Division I Management Council, and two SAAC members participate in each meeting of the Management Council as nonvoting members. It is through these two mechanisms that NCAA Division I student-athletes offer input and assist in shaping the proposed legislation by which their division is governed.
Chappell’s term officially begins on July 7, 2005, and concludes in September 2006.
