At the ITA Rivera All-American tournament last week, Arizona women's tennis senior Danielle Steinberg made it to the final round of qualifying by defeating North Carolina's Austin Smith 6-3, 7-6 (5) in the first round of the qualifying. In her second round match, Steinberg beat Stanford's Lindsay Burdette 3-6, 6-4, 4-3 ret. Steinberg then lost to Nadja Gilchrist from Georgia, 6-1 6-4 in the final round. The tournament invites the top players from around the nation for an all-week event. Steinberg was one of two Wildcats to compete.
In the doubles, Steinberg and teammate Claire Rietsch lost to Georgia Tech's Christy Striplin and Noelle Hickey in their first round match, 8-1. In consolation, Steinberg and Rietsch were defeated by Duke's Ellah Nze and Reka Zsliniska, 8-3.
