Women's Golf Ties for Sixth at PING/ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. ?- The Arizona women’s golf team finished sixth at the PING/ASU Invitational, hosted by Arizona State University.  The Wildcats carded their best round on Sunday, a six-over par 294, bringing their three round total to 888 (+24).  Arizona State won the tournament in commanding fashion, carding an eight-under par 280 on Sunday to win by 22 strokes over UCLA.

 

Arizona State’s Anna Nordqvist won the individual crown with a three day total of 206 (-10), two strokes ahead of Stanford’s Mari Chun.

 

Junior Mary Jacobs fell out of the top-10 during the final round, finishing in a tie for 11th place.  The Godfrey, Ill., native shot a three-over par 75 on Sunday to bring her total score to an even 216 after 54 holes.

 

Defending tournament individual champion sophomore Adriana Zwanck tied with fellow Wildcat junior Alison Walshe for 21st place.  Both carded an even-par 72 in the final round to finish the tournament with a total of 221 (+5).

 

Freshman Emily Mason finished in a tie for 64th with a three round total of 235 (+19).

 

Sophomore Amanda Wilson also tied for 64th after shooting a three-over par 75 in the final round, bringing the Hilo, Hawaii native a total of 235 (+19).

 

Competing as an individual for the Wildcats is sophomore Marisa Smith, who tied for 79th with a total score of 240 (+24).
