Fifteen current or former NBA stars among 23 players competing in the Lexus*Infiniti Shootout
TUCSON, Ariz. ?- Fifteen current or former National Basketball Association standouts headline the roster of players confirmed to compete in the Lexus*Infiniti Shootout, Sunday, Aug. 14, as part of the Lute Olson All-Star Classic weekend.
A total of 23 players are confirmed to compete in this special event at the University of Arizona’s McKale Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. PDT. Of those 23 players, 15 have NBA experience and include: Gilbert Arenas, Anthony Cook, Sean Elliott, Reggie Geary, Richard Jefferson, Andre Iguodala, Steve Kerr, Khalid Reeves, Sean Rooks, Miles Simon, Damon Stoudamire, Jason Terry, Tom Tolbert, Luke Walton and Pete Williams.
During the 2004-05 season, Arizona ranked fourth nationally with eight players on current NBA rosters.
Eight other players with professional experience overseas will also compete in the shootout: Joseph Blair, A.J. Bramlett. Jason Gardner, Joe McLean, Dylan Rigdon, Joe Turner, Corey Williams and Michael Wright.
The official game rosters for the Lexus*Infiniti Shootout will be announced late next week.
Of the players competing, 11 earned All-America honors during their Arizona careers, while 17 garnered all-Pacific-10 Conference accolades.
