TUCSON, Ariz. ?- Arizona men’s tennis players Roger Matalonga and Colin O’Grady have both received preseason rankings from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).   Matalonga was ranked No. 29, while O’Grady received the ranking of No. 85. In addition to their singles rankings, Matalonga and O'Grady recieved the No. 5 doubles ranking from the ITA.

The Wildcats begin their fall season in Costa Mesa, Calif., for the Costa Mesa Futures Tournament. Arizona hopes to continue the success it saw last spring, when it finished with a record of 24-11, a 7-7 Pac-10 mark and a final ranking of No. 23 in the country. The Wildcats return seven players from last year, and bring in six newcomers to fill out the 13-man roster.

Individually, the Wildcats will be led by senior Tim Mullane, Matalonga and O’Grady. Matalonga hopes to continue the success he built in the spring, when he ended the season with five consecutive weeks ranked in the ITA poll and posted a 24-11 mark. In addition to his success on the singles court, he and his doubles partner O’Grady posted an 18-11 mark, which was good enough to end the season at No. 22. This dynamic duo hopes to improve on the mark of last year, where they made a strong appearance in the NCAA Doubles Championships and advanced to the round of 16.
