Wildcat sophomore Natasha Marks will participate in the 2009 Riviera/ITA Women's All American Championships main draw after winning all her matches in the qualifying round.
Tuesday, Marks defeated TCU's Kayla Duncan 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the opening round. That afternoon, Marks came out on top over UNLV's Kristina Nedeltcheva 7-5, 6-3. On Wednesday, Marks defeated Duke's Amanda Granson 6-4, 6-1 to clinch one of the eight qualifying spots.
Thursday, Marks will go up against Florida's Marrit Boonstra at 1:45 pm in the first round of the main draw.
In her rookie season as a Wildcat, Marks, a native of Nottingham, England, went 20-11 overall in singles, and 12-8 in dual match play.
Post-season, Marks fought all the way through the Pac-10 Championships to the championship match, where she lost to USC's Amanda Fink. Marks also represented the Wildcats at the 2009 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships in College Station in singles, and made it to the second round.
Currently, Marks is ranked at No. 29 in the Campbells/ITA College Tennis Preseason Rankings.
Joining Marks from the Pac-10 conference in the main draw are USC's Danielle Lao, Alison Ramos and Maria Sanchez, California's Marina Cossou and Jana Jurcova, Arizona State's Kelcy McKenna, Washington's Venise Chan, UCLA's Yasmin Schnack, and Stanford's Hillary Barte.
