Jenny Gladding's third home run of the day ended a dramatic contest and gave Arizona a 3-0 victory over Texas in UA's second softball game of the Fiesta Bowl Tournament.

Gladding hit the first pitch for a game-ending three-run homer with one out in the bottom of the seventh.

After outscoring its first four opponents 32-8, Texas freshman Cat Osterman (1-1) kept Arizona at bay with one hit and no runner beyond first base through six innings. She struck out 12 in only her second collegiate game but finished with three hits allowed including Gladding's bomb.

Mackenzie Vandergeest led off the frame with a double to left, and after Leneah Manuma struck out, Osterman intentionally walked Jennie Finch. Gladding, the designated player, then clouted the game winner.

Neither Finch (2-0), who pitched a two-hit shutout but didn't appear to haveher best tuff, nor Osterman allowed a hit until UT's Wynter Turner singled through the left side with two out in the top of the fourth. UA catcher Vandergeest threw Turner out trying to steal a few pitches later.

Finch hit the first pitch in the bottom of the fifth for the first hit off Osterman, but Osterman struck out the side to end that minimal threat.

Finch pitched out a jam she helped create with one out in the top of the first after her throwing error allowed Erin Mahoney to reach second, she walked Tamara Poppe, and both runners moved up on her wild pitch. She struck ouf Deeanna Williams looking and got Sarah Wieszczak to pop out.

Gladding pitched a one-hitter and hit two home runs in UA's earlier 10-1 victory over Southwest Texas State.

Arizona 10, Southwest Texas State 1

Jenny Gladding hit two of Arizona's four home runs and pitched a one-hitter to help lead top-ranked Arizona to a 110-1 victory over Southwest Texas State in the Wildcats' first game of the Fiesta Bowl Tournament.

Gladding hit a leadoff solo shot in the third and a two-run home run in the fourth and improved her record to 2-0 with the eight-strikeout victory in the five-inning game shortened by the eight-run mercy rule..

First baseman Jennie Finch's three-run home run to center gave UA a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Then the Cats added two more on Mackenzie Vandergeest's double off the third baseman's glove in the second to make it 5-0.

Gladding lined a pitch down the right field line for her first home run of the year in the top of the third, giving the Cats their seventh team homer in four games. Her two-run homer deep to right center capped a four-run fourth inning which gave UA the final margin.

Rachael Bonetti led off the Bobcats third with a solo home run to left to cut the lead to 6-1. But UA's Lovie Jung hit a leadoff homer in the top of the next inning to answer and start the Cats' final rally.
