Head Coach Sean Miller
"I'd like to credit Washington State for coming in here and playing with such poise. I was very impressed with their freshman point guard Reggie Moore, playing in his first Pac-10 road game, and to play as well as he did is amazing. He got to the free line 14 times. The bottom line is we are a bad team defensively. It's like we have a slow cornerback defending a receiver who just runs right by him every time. We could not guard them. Some of the rebounds they got were just because we couldn't grab them. On Sunday when we play Washington, it's going to be the same storyline; can we guard them off the dribble? Can we defend at the different positions?
On the lasting effect of losing a close game:
"To me, I'm not even focused on losing a close game at the last second, I'm focused on, for 40 minutes, can we get better defensively?"
"Our team defense didn't allow us to get the win tonight. If you score 76 points and shoot 46% from the field, commit 10 turnovers, you need to be in the winner's circle, and if you're not, you're not a very good defensive team. Tonight we weren't at all.
Arizona Player Quotes
Senior Guard Nic Wise
"That was a game we needed to get stops. We were doing good things offensively, but we just couldn't get it done on the defensive end. When you're at home, you have to get stops when they count. We had to get stops when you need them. In the last eight minutes you have to buckle down. That's been our Achilles' heal all season."
On the loss affecting Sunday's game vs. Washington:
"It could, it was a close game and we lost a close one at SC and then came back and beat UCLA, so it's possible it could carry over."
Freshman Forward Derrick Williams
On the loss affecting the team's confidence:
"I don't think it does, we only lost by two points and we actually played pretty badly in the last ten minutes, we couldn't get many stops. Losing by two points shouldn't shake our confidence at all."
On his fifth foul:
"They knew I had four fouls, so they probably told him to take a charge any chance he could. I don't think I hit him that hard, definitely not hard enough for him to fall over; he's a big boy."
