Last Time Out: Last weekend, the Cats dropped two Pac-12 matches on the road. The Wildcats first traveled to Eugene, Ore. to take on the Oregon Ducks. Oregon swept doubles competition and topped Arizona on five of six singles courts. Earning Arizona’s only win of the day was sophomore Kieren Thompson on court five. Thompson claimed his second win in Pac-12 play in straight sets. Next, the Wildcats traveled to Seattle to play the No. 25-ranked Huskies. Washington swept play that day claiming all three doubles matches and six of six singles competitions.

LaNelle Robson Tennis Center: This weekend’s match will be held on Arizona’s home courts. LaNelle Robson Tennis Center was dedicated in 1991 and is home to 17 lit courts, a center-court grandstand and a permanent canopy over the stands.

Arizona Head Coach Tad Berkowitz enters his seventh season as the head coach of the Wildcats. During the 2008-09 season he was named the Pac-10 Men's Tennis Coach of the Year and the Wilson/ITA West Region Coach of the Year. Last season, he led the Wildcats to a 9-14 overall record. He joined the program in 2004 and has held numerous national and collegiate coaching positions. He was promoted to the head coaching position in the spring of 2005 after serving as hall-of-famer Bill Wright's assistant. Berkowitz was a top collegiate player for the Universities of Kentucky and New Mexico, respectively.

Fabulous Five: Arizona returns five players from the 2010-2011 season. Junior Frank Chen will be looked to as a leader this season as he boasts the most colligate tennis experience on the team. Sophomores Giacomo Miccini, Kieren Thompson, Mario Urquidi, and Andre Vidaller also bring their knowledge and experience to the court.

Fresh Four: The Wildcats welcome four freshmen to the 2011-12 roster. Joining the team before the fall season were Carlos Bermudez and Robin Chou. Adding to the four are Sebastian Ionescu and Sumeet Shinde who joined the team in the spring. All four could play vital roles in both singles and doubles action this season.

Match Data: The Wildcats (5-16, 0-6 Pac-12) will host the Utah Utes (11-11, 0-6 Pac-12). A win this weekend would mark the first in conference play for either team.

Scouting the Utes: Last weekend, the Utes fell in two conference competitions. First, the Utes traveled to Seattle to take on the No. 25-ranked Washington Huskies. Utah dropped the doubles point but claimed two singles matches in the 5-2 loss. The Utes then traveled to Eugene, Ore. to play the Oregon Ducks. The Utes fell in all three doubles matches but went on to win three singles matches in the 4-3 loss.

The Series vs Utah: This will be the 37th meeting of the two schools with Arizona holding the 30-6 advantage over Utah.

The Last Meeting: In 2003 the then No. 48-ranked Wildcats defeated the Utes, 6-1. This weekend’s match will be the first meeting of the two schools in conference competition.
