TUCSON - Senior Soana Lucet and junior Reiko Thomas, members of the University of Arizona Wildcat women's basketball team, have earned postseason academic honors from the Pacific-10 Conference, it was announced on Friday. Both players were named Pac-10 All-Academic Honorable Mention.
Lucet will graduate in May with a degree in French. She currently holds a cumulative GPA of 3.21, the highest of the squad. Lucet averaged 12.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in 2010-11. She ends her career at No. 10 on the career all-time scoring average list with 12.9 points per game. She also set the Arizona all-time record for points in a postseason game with her career-best 35 against Utah State in the opening round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament.
Thomas was recognized for the second-straight season after earning accolades for her academic efforts in 2009-10. She is a sociology major with a cumulative GPA of 3.16. After missing the first eight games of the 2010-11 slate while recovering from injury, Thomas started 10 contests for UA and played in 25. She averaged 3.7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. She continues to be Arizona's all-time career leader in free throw percentage with a .838 (196-234).
Lucet and Thomas' awards mark the 11th-straight season the Wildcats have had a team member named to the league's all-academic squad.
