Seven Arizona Swimmers and Divers Earn Academic Honors

Walnut Creek, Calif. (March 29) - The Pac-10 Conference announced Friday that seven Arizona swimmers and divers received 2002 Pac-10 Conference All-Academic honors.

For the Arizona men's swimming and diving team, junior Scott Koenig and sophomore Zach Ferguson were named to the Pac-10 Conference's All-Academic First Team. Koening, from Perrysburg, Ohio, is a psychology major with a 3.67 grade-point average. Ferguson, from Knoxville, Iowa, is an economics major with a 3.89 GPA. Both Koening and Ferguson received the honor for the first time.

For the Arizona women's swimming and diving team, sophomore Claire Febvay was named to the Pac-10 Conference's All-Academic First Team, and senior Caroline Kilian was named to the Pac-10 Conference's All-Academic Second Team. Febvay, from Stavanger, Norway, has a 3.90 GPA and receives the All-Academic First Team honor for the first time. Kilian, an All-American from Vista, Calif., is a physiological studies major with a 3.55 GPA and earned Conference All-Academic Second Team honors in 2001 and a Conference All-Academic honorable mention in 2000.

Three Arizona swimmers, seniors Jamie Krohn, Jessamyn Miller and Jennifer Vanker received Pac-10 Conference All-Academic Honorable Mentions. Krohn, from Phoenix, Ariz., and Vanker, a family studies major from Birmingham, Mich., both earn All-Academic Honorable Mentions for the second time in their careers. Miller, a business economics major from Newport Beach, Calif., earns her first All-Academic Honorable Mention. Miller who was named to the Conference's All-Academic Second Team in 2000 and 2001.

To be eligible for selection to the conference's academic teams, a student must have a 3.0 overall grade-point average, and be a starter or significant substitute for their team.
