LONG BEACH, Calif. – After night one of the Pac-10 Championships, the No. 1-ranked Arizona men’s swimming team placed third in the 200 medley relay and fourth in the 800 free relay
In the medley relay, the team of Bryan O’Connor, Marcus Titus, Jordan Slaughter and Jordan Smith finished with a time of 1:25.62, good for an NCAA automatic bid in the relay and a third place finish behind Cal and Stanford.
Moving towards the 800 free relay, the Cats placed fourth overall with a time of 6:22.60 by Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or, Joel Greenshields, Jean Basson and Jack Brown. It marked the first time since 2004 where the Wildcats did not place first in the event at the Pac-10 Championships.
Cal is the early leader after night one with 72 points followed by USC in second with 70 poiints, Stanford is third with 68 and Arizona is fourth with 62 points. Tomorrow’s events include the 200 free relay, the 500 free, 200 I.M. and 50 free.
