TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 34 Arizona women's tennis team earned their ninth victory of the season over No. 18 Washington on Friday, 5-2. The win improved Arizona's Pac-10 mark to 2-5.

Arizona swept the doubles matches against the Huskies to earn the first point of the meet. Arizona's No. 13 ranked doubles duo of sophomore Debbie Larocque and freshman Maja Mlakar defeated Washington's No. 39 team of Claire Carter and Darija Klaic, 8-5.

In singles, Arizona won four of six matches including a victory by No. 13 Mlakar, who beat UW's No. 62 Carter, 6-3, 6-2. UA's No. 87 Larocque topped Washington's Ilona Kordonskaya in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Wildcat freshman Dianne Hollands, No. 95, tripped up UW's Colleen Gray, 6-3, 6-1.

In other doubles action, Wildcat senior Laresa Marino and sophomore Marie-Pier Pouliot earned a doubles victory over UW's Colleen Gray and Dea Sumantri, 8-1. UA's Hollands and senior Brooke Taylor won 8-1 over Washington's Andrea Coulter and Kordonskaya.

The Wildcats next face No. 28 Washington State on Saturday, April 6, at 12:00 MST in Tucson.
