TUCSON, Ariz.- In a wild weekend of upsets in Division I volleyball, Arizona's spotless 3-0 record bumped them up one spot in the latest version of the USA Today/AVCA Coaches Poll to fifth. Despite the modest move in the rankings, the Wildcats did receive their first-ever first-place vote in the poll. All total, six different teams received at least one first-place vote this week. Arizona (3-0) swept South Florida, Marshall and then-ninth-ranked Florida over the weekend en route to the SunTrust Invitational title in Gainesville, Fla.

Defending national champion Nebraska (3-1), which saw its 36 match winning streak come to an end against Long Beach State, retained the top ranking despite receiving less first-place votes than the 49ers. Long Beach (2-0) jumped up six spots from the previous poll to place second this week. Wisconsin (4-1) moved up one spot to third after defeating USC in Irvine, Calif., Sunday. Penn State (3-0) fell one spot to fourth, despite winning all of its matches on the opening weekend.

For the first time in school history Arizona is the highest ranked Pac-10 team. Including the Wildcats, four conference teams are ranked in the top 10 this week. Previously second-ranked USC (1-1) fell to sixth, UCLA (3-0) held steady at seventh and Stanford moved up one spot to ninth.

The Cats return to action on Thursday evening in the Four Points University Plaza Wildcat Classic. Arizona will face 19th-ranked Utah in the opening match. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
